What is Veterans Day?
Veterans Day is a U.S. holiday observed on November 11th each year to honor and thank all military veterans who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. It is a day to recognize the bravery and sacrifice of those who have defended the country in times of peace and war. Unlike Memorial Day, which honors those who died in military service, Veterans Day celebrates all veterans, both living and deceased.
Who is a Veteran?
A veteran is someone who has served in the armed forces, including the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Space Force, or Coast Guard, whether they served during peacetime or wartime. Veterans can include individuals who served on active duty, in the reserves, or in the National Guard, as long as they completed their service honorably. Veterans can be living or deceased, and they may have retired from the military or returned to civilian life after their service.
